E-Governance
The Punjab Government is committed to its initiatives
on e-governance and believes that this is one of the most
important pillars to have a transparent, honest and responsive
administration. E-governance is the vehicle which is used
to reduce state controls and regulations to the bare minimum
in the most efficient manner. In Punjab, the vision of
establishing a simple, moral, accountable, responsive
and transparent (SMART) Government is not a distant dream.
The Government has already organized training programmes
at all levels for implementing e-governance. Concrete
steps for the creation of a common infrastructure for
the Punjab State-Wide Area Network (PUNWAN), to create
a common database for the implementation of e-governance
plans. The Government has initiated steps to develop and
deploy e-business and e-governance applications on priority,
for revenue generating activities and departments dealing
with public. The Government has initiated steps to define
department-wise Strategic IT Action Plans(SITAP) clearly
indicating objectives, goals and priorities. Further,
the Government will create sources of income to each major. |

Punjab Infotech
Venture Fund
A Rs. 200 million, 10 year, closed ended Venture Capital Fund,
Punjab Infotech Venture Fund (PIVF) has been conceptualised
and funded by the Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation
Limited (PSIDC), the Punjab State Financial Corporation (PFC),
the Punjab State Electronics Development & Production Corporation
Limited (ECP) and the Small Industries Development Bank of
India (SIDBI).
Fund
Objective
PIVF aims at investing in companies in the Information Technology
Sector within the State of Punjab. The fund's investment in
companies is through the route of equity & quasi-equity instruments.
The Fund seeks to achieve its returns through dividends and
capital gains at the time of divestment through an initial
public offering or a negotiated sale of its holding.
