Several major multinationals and internationally renowned Indian companies are presently working in Punjab. Among the MNCs Nestle, Smithkline Beecham, Pepsico, GEC (US), Ollivetti (Italy), Nippon, Hitachi, Fujitsu, OKI of Japan, Kenwood, Motorola and ICI have some major projects in the state.

Among the Indian companies, Ranbaxy (medicine), Hero Cycles, Avon Cycles (cycle), Punjab Tractor Ltd (Swaraj Tractors and Combine Harvester), Oswal Woolen Mills (Monte Carlo, Casablanca), Oswal Knit India Ltd. (Pringle), JCT Textiles, DCM (CTV picture tube, steel rope, castings), Birla VXL (OCM) (Woolen fabric), JIL (Maltova , Viva , range of wines and liquor), Gujrat Ambuja (cement), Godrej (Washing Machine), ACC (cement), SIEL (Chemicals, Vanaspati) and Abhishek (Denim Fabric) are the major players.
